Filing Requirements

  • A description of the trademark; a list of the products and services
  • The applicant’s information
  • And documentation proving the filing cost was paid.

The Office may request the Power of Attorney, but it is not required. It is adequate to have a copy.

The Trademark Office may need the Priority Document to be submitted, but it is not required. It is not necessary to translate this into Finish.

Renewal

In Finland, there is no grant fee associated with trademark registration. The registration period in Finland for trademarks filed on or after May 1, 2019, is ten years from the date of filing. The trademark validity period for those issued prior to May 1, 2019, is ten years from the date of registration. For ten years, trademarks can be renewed. Trademark renewal requests may be made up to a year before the registration’s expiration date, or, if the surcharge is paid, within the six-month grace period following the expiration date.
