Requirements

 

  • The patent office must receive the following information from the applicant in order to determine the filing date: applicant’s information, including correspondence address, trademark representation, and list of goods and services.
  • When submitting an application for trademark registration in Chile, a scanned copy of the signed Power of Attorney must be sent, either at the time of filing or within 60 days of that date.
  • Within ninety days of the filing date, the original Priority Document that has been translated into Spanish must be delivered to the Chilean trademark office.

Renewal

In Chile, a trademark’s validity lasts for ten years after registration. The application for renewal must be submitted no later than six months prior to the registration’s expiration date. If the relevant premium is paid, the trademark may also be renewed within six months of the renewal deadline.
