Filing Requirements
The Companies and Intellectual Property Commission must receive the applicant’s information, trademark representation, indication of international class, and specification of goods or services in order to provide a filing date. Before the trademark application is examined, a digital copy of the Power of Attorney may be submitted at any moment; neither notarization nor legalisation are necessary.
Renewal
If the address for service remains the same, the POA is not needed for the renewal of a trademark in South Africa. With small fines, the trademark may be renewed both six months prior to and six months following the renewal deadline.
