SLOVENIA

Slovenian trademark registration Slovenia is a party to the European Union, the Madrid Protocol, and the Madrid Agreement. Registration is necessary to acquire trademark protection.

Requirements

A local agent must submit a trademark application to the Patent Office. All you need is an unregistered power of attorney. A domestic registration is not required for foreign candidates.

Renewal

Within three months of the invitation date, the registration fee—which covers the maintenance price for the first ten years—must be paid. In Slovenia, a trademark is valid for 10 years after the day the application was filed. A mark’s duration may be extended for additional ten years at a time. If an additional charge is paid, renewal costs may be paid up to six months after the trademark expiration date or during the final year of trademark protection.

Duration

In Slovenia, a trademark registration is effective from the registration date for a period of ten years. Ten-year renewal periods are available for the registration.
